KRNS Transmitter
KRNS Transmitter

The transmitter of KRNS was 1000 watt daytime, 250 watt night rig with 4 large driver tubes (833A's, I believe).  A single tower was directly behind the Studio building.  At high power, we would get radio frequency (RF) burns from almost anything metal we touched in the building!  The studios were also built right on the ground.  When the spring thaw came, and the spring rains came, the water would run under the transmitter, and into the studio!  I don't believe I ever was at the studio building on Fairgrounds road without a pair of rubber sole shoes on!
